Gemma: This is a problem often encountered when re-viewing highly influential older films, or - most especially - when viewing them for the first time from the POV of someone who’s lived their whole life in that film’s post-cultural moment. One of the reasons I wanted to talk about The Sixth Sense is that it was a seminal film that influenced a host of other movies, created a barrage of knock-offs, derivatives and satires, but is still, in and of itself, a pretty damn great movie. And: SPOILER ALERT BUT YOU SHOULDN’T NEED ONE! So, let’s be sensible and give credit where credit is due, to a movie that had a profound impact on audiences worldwide.
